Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

The first phase of search engine optimization is accessing the current state of the web site; checking to see if the search engine spider can access the site. There are many things in the site’s architecture that can unknowingly keep the search engine spiders from being able to index the web site. The search engine page saturation is checked as well as the number of sites that are linking to your web site. All of this information is compiled in a global site assessment and from here we can begin the search engine optimization process.

During this phase the marketing goals are evaluated and the purpose of the web site is determined. With this information we begin the keyword research. By this point we have a good understanding of the clients products and services. We use this knowledge of our clients to discover what people are typing into the search engines to find your products and services. We detect how many sites are competing for these keywords and the likelihood or ease of ranking for such phrases. With all of this information we formulate a prioritized keyword list for the site; and with this keyword list we optimize the web site.

All of the elements of the web site are optimized to work together. Some SEO firms approach search engine optimization on a page by page basis and we have found that the holistic optimization works well for both the search engine and the visitor.

The essential elements of a successful search engine optimization include:

    • Web site assessment for accessibility and structural problems limiting search engine indexing

    • Marketing goal evaluation to determine the purpose of the web site

    • Holistic search engine optimization – pulling everything together for the search engines

    • Baseline reports – getting a starting point to track lift from search engine optimization efforts

    • Social Media Optimization – a plan to integrate your site with social media, and to build your online influence using social media sites.

  • Monitor the results – monthly reports showing the results from the optimization; making tweaks to the site when necessary.

Search engine optimization has become a complicated task and the search engines are changing their algorithms (the methods that they use to rank web sites) on a regular basis. It’s not that the search engines want to make this task any more difficult – it’s that they want to provide the most relevant results to the searcher. And that’s what we want to deliver. We want to meet the needs of the searcher; answer their questions and supply the information they are looking for.
